On December 22, the 2020 Annual Conference on China’s Energy Policy Research and the fourth-quarter meeting of the “China Power Roundtable” were held in Beijing. At the conference, some representatives stated that the National Energy Administration has already set a target of adding a combined 120 million kilowatts of wind and solar power capacity in China in 2021.
According to a report from China Wind Power News, on December 22, the 2020 Annual Conference on China’s Energy Policy Research and the fourth-quarter meeting of the “China Electricity Roundtable” were held in Beijing. At the conference, some representatives stated that the National Energy Administration has now set a target of adding a total of 120 million kilowatts of new wind and solar power capacity in China in 2021.
According to statistics from the National Energy Administration: From 2014 to 2019, the combined newly installed capacity of wind power and solar power nationwide was 33 million, 48 million, 54 million, 68 million, 65 million, and 56 million kilowatts, respectively. From January to October 2020, approximately 46 million kilowatts were newly added. Although the annual increase reached a peak of 68 million kilowatts, this figure still falls short of the average growth rate of 74 million kilowatts required over the next 10 years, and is significantly lower than the 2021 development target of 120 million kilowatts (120,000,000 kilowatts).
On December 22, the 2020 National Energy Work Conference was held in Beijing. Zhang Jianhua, Party Secretary and Director of the National Energy Administration, delivered a report titled “Thoroughly Implementing the New Energy Security Strategy and Providing Strong Energy Guarantees for Fully Building a Modern Socialist Country,” outlining directions and identifying eight key priorities for next year’s energy work. Zhang Jianhua emphasized the need to accelerate the development of wind and photovoltaic power, with the total newly installed capacity of wind and photovoltaic power expected to see a substantial increase compared to the 13th Five-Year Plan period. It is also crucial to significantly enhance the capacity for accommodating and storing new energy sources, vigorously develop pumped-storage hydroelectricity and energy storage industries, and speed up the advancement of integrated “wind-solar-hydrothermal-storage” and “source-grid-load-storage” systems.
Since the second half of 2019, Jiangyin Hengrun Ring Forging Co., Ltd. has taken effective measures—including technological upgrades, the addition of new equipment, and enhanced management capabilities—and as a result, its wind turbine flange ring forging capacity is projected to reach 150,000 tons in 2020. Under the favorable policies both domestically and internationally in the new energy sector, the company’s latest production data shows that, as of September 30, 2020, it had already produced 132,000 tons of wind turbine flange ring forgings in the first three quarters of the year. While maintaining high-quality standards, the company is further expanding its production capacity and continuously reaping the benefits brought by favorable industry policies. The company aims to achieve a new annual high of 180,000 tons of wind turbine flange ring forgings in 2020.
